A huge thank-you to all who participated in the 119th Christmas Bird Count (CBC) and the Christmas Bird Count for Kids (CBC4Kids). Your Citizen Science contributions will support important research on winter bird populations. And another special thank-you to those of you who participated in our CBC and CBC4Kids photo contest! It’s been a pleasure to receive your submissions from across Canada.
And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for. We are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s random prize draw!
Photo: Kelsey Bourgeois
Category 1 – Christmas Bird Count:
Congratulations to Kelsey Bourgeois of Edmonton, AB. We love her snapshots of birders (and a four-legged friend) enjoying the snowy day.
Photo: Tara Carpenter
Category 2 – Christmas Bird Count for Kids:
This category’s lucky winner is Tara Carpenter of Scotland, ON. It looks like birders from big to small had a wonderful time counting birds at this CBC4Kids event.
Blue Jay Photo: Judy Mord
Category 3 – Birds:
Judy Mord of Timmins, ON takes the prize for this category. Judy’s photos show a variety of birds encountered during the count – from chickadees, to a Pine Grosbeak, to a Blue Jay passing a quiet moment in the trees.
Congratulations to our three winners! We hope you enjoy your prizes and join us for another fun CBC season next winter.
Thanks once again to all of the photo contest entrants. We look forward to sharing your photos with our fellow bird lovers across the country.
