Thank you for your interest in the Christmas Bird Count (CBC). If you wish to create and be a Compiler for a new Count Circle in a geographic location not yet covered (see map for locations of registered circles), please complete and submit the application form below. Once it is reviewed, the CBC team will contact you. For additional information about the CBC in Canada or to follow up on an application, email us at cbc @ birdscanada.org
To increase the likelihood that your new circle will be successful, we highly recommend running a trial (pilot) count for one season before submitting your application. In running a trial count, unanticipated logistical problems may be discovered, and you can make sure your circle includes the best possible combination of local habitats, as well as ensure you have enough participation to adequately cover the area. The trial count is also important as once a new count has been registered the location cannot be changed (see map for locations of registered circles).
Please review the Christmas Bird Count Canadian Compiler Manual BEFORE completing an application for a new Count Circle.
