Panel discussion to follow. “The Young Birders”: This short follows conservation biologist and British Columbia birding legend Melissa Hafting, and members of the BC Young Birders Program. As we follow a young birders field trip, we explore the positive role that birds have on our mental health and wellness, how birds can aid in healing in the face of grief. “The Commute”: Every night, thousands of crows from around Greater Vancouver gather on one street to roost. Their commute across the city parallels the daily commute of people heading home from work, captured in this short film. “The Ptarmigan Trek”: What is a week like in the life of a professional wildlife photographer? This short follows Liron Gertsman on a journey into the mountains of western Canada, trying to find one very elusive bird: the White-tailed Ptarmigan.
