Marsh Wren photo by Gilles Bisson
Join MarshWatch host LeeAnn Latremouille as we look for wetland birds along the Little Saskatchewan River in the heart of Minnedosa, Manitoba!
This is a drop-in event from 8:00am to 11:00am. We will meet at the parking lot of the Bison Park Viewing Area and walk the trail heading west. We will aim to be at the Rotary Swinging Bridge around 9:00-9:15am, which is near the Hertiage Village parking lot (park here if you are joining later!). We will make our way to the viewing tower at the oxbow, the head up to the dam to scan for waterfowl in the reservoir lake before walking back to the parking lot at the Bison Viewing Area. See map below for details.
We will have two spotting scopes, field guides, and a few extra binoculars – we should be easy to spot if you are joining after 8!
What to bring: binoculars if you have them, and long pants and closed-toe shoes – there will likely be mosquitos.
All are welcome!
Other notes:
- Camping is available at the nearby Minnedosa Campground and Beach. Reservations can be made here.
- Dining: there is an excellent drive-in called the Dari-Isle as well as other sit down establishments.
- Other wetlands: there are many other wetlands in the Minnedosa area, take a drive after our walk and practice your skills before heading home!
