Carve a soapstone pendant with basic hand tools to create your own wearable art.
Learn to carve soapstone in a friendly and focused small group with Artist Cindy Presant. You will be carve a pendant-sized piece of soapstone using tools provided, including rasps, rifflers, hand saws, and chisels. Group size will be 15 people or less. You will be carving outside in the fresh air, at picnic tables on the back deck of the beautiful Birds Canada Headquarters. The deck overlooks wetlands and old field restoration areas, an inspirational natural area that will add to your carving experience. Bring your own water bottle, and snacks. Participants are also welcome to bring their own lunch to eat after the workshop has finished.
Please note that you will be required to wear an N95 mask while carving, to reduce breathing in rock dust. If you don’t have an N95/KN95 mask, you can purchase one from the Instructor at the beginning of the workshop.
