Join Birds Canada and Nature Prince Albert on a guided wetland walk and driving tour near Spruce Home, north of Prince Albert! This walk is the field component of the MarshWatch webinar series, but all are welcome. If you want to learn more about the birds and amphibians in Prairie Canada, all the webinars can be viewed on the program page here.

Please register here in case there is a need to cancel due to severe weather.

Timing: Sunday, July 14th 9am – 12pm – rain or shine unless severe weather looms.

Cost: Free!

Location: We will meet up at Spruce Home Activity Centre (https://maps.app.goo.gl/25x54KM3NnG34EP97). Plant to arrive by 9:00am, we will wait around until 9:10am then head out on our adventure! The best approach coming from the south is to turn onto the service road where the Pulp Haul Road intersects with Hwy 2, and head north until you reach the Activity Centre (it’s a large quonset).

MarshWalk plans: We plan to carpool in several vehicles (if people are comfortable) and drive to Cheal Lake, stopping at various roadside wetlands and exploring some private property. Time permitting we will drive to nearby Taylor Lake to walk along an old road that cuts through the lake, stopping opportunistically at wetlands along the way.

Accessibility and location information: We will be walking off trail and doing some roadside birding, so expect tall vegetation, uneven ground, and potentially dew and ticks.

Suggested items to bring: Binoculars, sturdy footwear, long pants, sun & bug protection, water/snacks.

We will bring: extra binoculars, a spotting scope, field guides, and enthusiasm!

Contact: LeeAnn Latremouille email skatlas@birdscanada.org

ALL ARE WELCOME!
