Description: Carve a 3-dimensional animal or other object from soapstone, using hand tools, with Artist Cindy Presant.
Learn to carve Canadian Soapstone using traditional hand tools (no power tools) with Carving Instructor Artist Cindy Presant. Participants will create their own carving from a block of soapstone. Soapstone, tools, and work table are all provided. Develop an exciting new skill in a friendly, small group setting outside on the deck at the Birds Canada Headquarters in Port Rowan, Ontario. Enjoy the experience of creating your own work of art from a piece of stone.
Stone carving is an active form of creativity that develops hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, concentration, and patience. Carving keeps you focused on the present moment. After the workshop, your finished carving will make a great keepsake for yourself, or a wonderful gift for family and friends.
