As winter slowly but surely gives way to spring, the Saskatchewan Breeding Bird Atlas team is busily preparing for the 2018 field season. Plans are being laid for northern excursions, field crews are being assembled, and workshops have begun.

With great pleasure, the Saskatchewan Breeding Bird Atlas team announces the online release of the first atlas maps. These maps were created with information collected during the first field season (2017) of this five-year atlas project.

The first season of fieldwork is now underway for the Saskatchewan Breeding Bird Atlas, the largest Citizen Science project to ever be attempted in the province! The official launch event was co-organized by Bird Studies Canada and Nature Saskatchewan, and took place at Last Mountain Bird Observatory on International Migratory Bird Day, May 13.
