Emma Buck
LPBO Program Coordinator
I first fell in love with Ontario while on a backpacking trip from England in 2014, where I volunteered at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Muskoka, and have been drawn back ever since. I was in awe of the diversity and beauty in the wildlife in Canada and the huge undisturbed habitats for nature. I have had a few roles at Birds Canada but am now happy to be the Program Coordinator for Long Point Bird Observatory based at the Old Cut Research Station. I help to run the migration monitoring programs as well as engaging the public with the work we are doing and inspiring the next generation of birders and conservationists. One of the best parts of my job is training volunteers from all over the world and seeing them to go on to get jobs in conservation. I love that the Observatory is always looking for new ways to learn about and help conserve birds either with new technologies or collaborative research!
